Webb Depot Road

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING BRIDGE WORK ON NH ROUTE 12 AND TEMPORARY WEBB DEPOT ROAD CLOSURE

Following a public hearing held at the Marlborough School on February 26th, the Town of Marlborough will be enacting a temporary restriction of lower Webb Depot Road.

The NH Department of Transportation is in the process of completing bridge work in three locations along NH Route 12 in the Town of Marlborough. Starting in mid-March (date TBD), three alternating one-way traffic work zones will be established along with temporary traffic signals at each location. Drivers will see delays in this area, and an alternate route/detour will be posted by NH DOT for traffic to use Troy Road/NH Route 124/NH Route 101 to avoid construction delays. NH Route 12 sees an annual average daily traffic count of approximately 9,269 vehicles (2022 figure, NH DOT).

As a result of these impending traffic pattern changes and the inability of lower Webb Depot Road to accommodate a significant increase in vehicle traffic, the Town of Marlborough has weighed several options to limit crashes, maintain emergency vehicle access to the area, and mitigate damage to the roadway.

Upon the deployment of the traffic signals on NH Route 12 within the next few weeks and lasting until the removal of the traffic signals later this year, lower Webb Depot Road (the dirt portion) will be posted "CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC." Residents of the closed section and their guests will be permitted access to their properties from both directions. Drivers will not be permitted to travel along Webb Depot Road from the intersection with NH Route 12 to the intersection of Thatcher Hill Road and vice-versa. There will be signs and barricades clearly posted at each end.

Please contact the Marlborough, NH Police Department or Marlborough Board of Selectman's Office with any questions or concerns.
