Conservation Commission & Energy Committee Minutes: 11-16-2011 Energy Committee The purpose of this new committee is to see how the town can save energy and reduce its carbon footprint. It is chaired by Marge Shepardson. Mission Statement: The Marlborough Energy Committee has approved their mission statement: "The Marlborough Energy Committee was organized to encourage energy conservation, energy efficiency practices and the use of renewable energy in homes, businesses and public buildings in Marlborough through education and community involvement." Energy Audit: The Marlborough Energy Committee has begun by arranging for an energy audit of town-owned buildings. Once this is done the committee will follow up on the recommendations. The first part is an electricity audit done by PSNH. The audit is done for free and most of the cost of changing to more efficient lighting will be paid for by grants at very little cost to the town. Both the school and the library have already done this prior to the committee being formed, so now other public buildings in town will be looked at. Marlborough Open Space Committee Committee Members - Committee Members Present: Mike Krinsky, David Durocher, Ben Rice, Edward Goodrich, Nancy Hayden, Charlton MacVeagh, Farshad Farashahi.
